En 2006, l'émission x-factor a revélé léona lewis chanteuse compositrice à la voix dite sublime.Jeune, lewis a toujours aprécié la musique; elle écrit sa première chanson a l'âge de 12 ans et remporte un peu plus tard plusieurs concours de talents en interprétant notamment du mariah carey. Après les études, la jeune fille enchaîne des petits boulots pour pouvoir se payer un enregistrement en studio. Sa carrière ne décolle pas, elle décide alors d'abandonner.Son petit ami réussit a la convainre de s'inscrir au casting de x-factor et c'est finalement elle qui remportera la finale en 2006.

Son premier single "A Moment Like This" s'est vendu à 500 000 exemplaires en Grande-Bretagne et son album, Spirit s'est plus que très bien placé dans les charts, puisqu'il a battu le record du premier album le plus vendu la semaine de sa sortie auRoyaume-Uni : 375 000 exemplaires en 7 jours. En France, son album sort à la mi-février 2008.
